Lincolnshire is still one of Britain’s best-kept secrets.
There’s a distinct difference to Lincolnshire… and you’ll discover it around every corner.

Whether city, countryside or coast, you’ll find a pace to suit.

Lincoln is steeped in history, and brimming with life. Look back over 2,000 years of history and discover the city's Roman, Norman, Medieval, Tudor and Georgian heritage.

In the first century the city was called Lindum Colonna and inhabited by demobbed Roman legionnaires and their families. Few cathedrals in England are as awe inspiring as Lincoln Cathedral - started in 1072; the original building was damaged by fire and earthquake. Apart from the Norman West Front, the existing Cathedral is largely 12th and 13th century. William the Conqueror's castle dates from 1068, the medieval ramparts give magnificent views over Lincoln.

Unique Victorian Prison Chapel and King John's 1215 Magna Carta (one of only four in existence).

There’s plenty to do and see in Lincolnshire.
You can literally live history in Lincoln, dominated by its magnificent Cathedral or escape hectic everyday life in the awe-inspiring Lincolnshire Wolds or the unspoilt natural ‘manscape’ of the Fens.
Tranquil countryside and picturesque villages are perfect for touring, walking or cycling and miles of sandy coastline offer lively family resorts as well as quiet, almost empty wildlife-rich beaches.
Lincolnshire is home to a host of cycle and walking routes.
Long distance cycle routes bisect the county – travel from Barton, through Lincoln to Boston on the North Sea Cycle Route or take a gentle pedal around the city following the Lincoln CycleLincs map.
And whether leisurely strollers or serious walkers, Lincolnshire has a route to suit too. There’s coastal tracks where you can watch an awesome collection of birdlife that visits the county’s shores or climb Lincoln Edge and walk the Wolds. Or how about tackling the long distance Viking Way
